Excursion to Dubno
On the Border of Two Empires
Busk – Brody – Tarakaniv – Dubno
 During
this tour we will visit some interesting towns situated on the border
of two great empires of the times of the First World War - the Habsburg
Empire and Czarist Russia. Our first stop is near the well-preserved palace
of the Prime Minister of Austro-Hungaria Count Badeni in "Galician
Venice" – the town of Busk. Next we go to the border Galician town
of Brody, where among other historical and architectural monuments we
examine the castle-fortress (17th c.)
 Our
next stop is a unique Tarakaniv frontier-post wrapped in a shroud of mystery,
located near Dubno. The opening ceremony of this border post in 1890 visited
Russian emperor Olekskandr III. It is not surprising that more than hundred
years this building attracts many connoisseurs of military architecture
from different countries.
 In
Dubno we examine ancient Lutsk Gate (16th c.), the Bernardine monastery
(17th c.), picturesque Transfiguration Church., St. Illya Cathedral (early
20th c.), George Cathedral (18th c.), Jan Nepomuk Cathedral (early 20th
c.), the Carmelite Monastery (17th c.). We finish our tour at the castle
of Ostrog (15th - 17th c.). If you wish, we can have a lunch in the restaurant
near the castle.
The duration of excursion depends on your wishes (from 10 hours).
